Pianist Emily Bear has only been playing piano for a little more than a year, but at just six years old, her accomplishments are inspiring and her talent is breathtaking. Classical, jazz and boogie come naturally to her. She performs a large list of classics and standards, and also composes her own magical songs.
Emily was the youngest solo performer in the history of the Ravinia Festival, has performed with many well known musicians, appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in October and November 2007 and January 2008 and recently performed a 30 minute concert at the White House. April 13, 2008 - Emily receives RAMI Outstanding Achievement Award
The 17th Annual Rockford Area Music Industry Awards ceremony was held Thursday, April 10. Emily was presented with the RAMI Outstanding Achievement Award before an audience of about 400 people. This award is given to a musician who has gone beyond the local music scene to be recognized for his or her talent or contributions. See the full news release here.

March 28, 2008 - Emily Receives A 2008 Morton Gould Young Composer Award
Emily was a recipient of a 2008 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Competition award for her original song, "Northern Lights". She was one of 9 winners in the 18 year old and younger category out of a field of almost 600 applicants. See the full news release here.
March 24, 2008 - Emily performs at White House!
Emily Bear was honored to perform a 30 minute concert Monday at the White House. She played a mixture of jazz and original compositions for about 300 guests at a private breakfast hosted by President and Mrs. Bush before the annual traditional Easter Egg Roll. Emily will perform at the Chicagoland premier of the new documentary film "Note By Note: The Making of Steinway L1037" on January 18, 2008 at the Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago, IL. This special 30 minute concert will be performed on the actual piano from the film. Directed by Ben Niles, this award winning film documents the creation of Steinway Piano L1037 from forest floor to the concert hall.
